- Her obituary on FindAGrave.com reads:
On June 16, 1921 in Macon County, Tennessee, Merline Ukis Brawner was born to the late Bethel Clarence Brawner and Effie Jane Gregory Brawner. Merline was one of nine siblings born to this union.
Besides Merline's parents; one brother, Dillard Brawner, and two sisters, Zula Mae Brawner, and Velma Lois Brawner also preceded her in death.
She grew up in the Old Bottom Community in Macon County. As a young lady she was saved during Revival and joined Old Bottom Missionary Baptist Church. Later in life she moved her membership to Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church.
On December 26, 1941, Merline was married to Oshal Carmon Gregory. When they started out in life, little did they know that the Lord had a long journey ahead, for them.
They raised two sons, Clarence and Bill and two daughters, Patsy and Pamela. Merline and Oshal have shared seventy-two beautiful years of marriage. This is something wonderful, that few people are able to share together.
She was a stay at home mom, who loved caring for her home and children. Family always came first in her life and nothing made her happier than to cook for them. Merline enjoyed working in her flowers and writing poetry, also.
On January 12, 2014, at the age of ninety-two Merline went to her new home. Her labors down here are over and she is now basking in the glories of Heaven.
